Web Server Load Balancing with NGINX Plus

Do you have an NGINX Plus offline installer for RHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux 7.4+?

Yes. It takes advantage of the yumdownloader utility. Here’s the procedure:

  1. Follow the installation instructions in the NGINX Plus Admin Guide, through Step 5. (In other words, don’t run the yum install command for NGINX Plus itself.)

  2. Install yumdownloader, if you haven’t already:

    # yum install yumdownloader
  3. Download the latest version of the NGINX Plus package:

    # yumdownloader nginx-plus
  4. Copy the NGINX Plus rpm package to each target machine and run this command there to install it:

    # rpm -ihv rpm-package-name

For further help, or if other operating systes, get in touch with the NGINX support team.

Can I install NGINX Plus on Ubuntu?

  • 14.04 LTS (Trusty)
  • 16.04 LTS (Xenial)
  • 18.04 (Bionic)

What are F5’s plans for investing in NGINX open source projects post‑acquisition?

F5 values the NGINX open source community. We’re committed not just to maintaining, but to increasing, investment in open source initiatives, as well as expanding community engagement and contributing to the open source community in an even more substantial way.

F5 is committed to providing the same level of access to the open source code as before the acquisition.

Will F5 employees be making contributions to NGINX OSS projects?

Yes. F5 employees in the NGINX business unit will continue to contribute to NGINX Open Source, NGINX Unit, and other projects hosted at. Many F5 employees already contribute to other third‑party open source projects, such as the F5 repository on GitHub. Along with F5 customers, they also contribute code to the 300,000 user‑strong F5 DevCentral community.
